Licence Requirements

Under s.46 Gambling Act 2005 it is an offence to permit a person under 18 to gamble.

Under SR Code provision 3.2.11 licensees must:

• Have policies and procedures in place to prevent underage gambling. Procedures must include verifying the age of a customer before they are able to deposit funds or gamble.
• Warn customers that underage gambling is an offence.

Policy and Procedure to Prevent Underage Gambling

All company promotional material makes it clear that under 18’s are not permitted to open an account or to bet with Betwithfriends.

As part of the account opening procedure, the individual must provide their full name, address and date of birth to Betwithfriends through a third-party provider, Veriff.

Before an individual is allowed to deposit funds or gamble, the company obtains the following identification documents from Truliloo:

• A passport; or
• A driving licence.

The name and date of birth provided by the customer is verified by the company against the date of birth shown on the passport or driving licence. Once the company is satisfied that the individual is aged 18+, the account is opened. The individual’s details are stored on the company system, along with a copy of the identification documents provided.

If the individual is found to be under 18, the account is blocked, and no betting can take place.

Under LCCP 17.1.1 licensees must:

• Obtain information to verify the identity of a customer before that customer is permitted to gamble (the information must include name, address, and date of birth as a minimum).
• Take steps to ensure that a customer’s identity information remains accurate.

Policy and Procedure to Verify Identity

As part of the company’s account opening procedure, the individual must provide their full name and address to Betwithfriends through a third-party provider, Truliloo.

Before an individual is allowed to gamble, the company obtains the following identification documents from Truliloo:

• A driving licence/passport; and
• A utility bill, bank statement, or other official document (dated within the last 3 months) showing their full name and residential address.

The customer’s name, address, and date of birth are verified against the details shown on these identity documents. Once the company is satisfied that the individual’s identity has been verified, their account is opened. The individual’s details are stored on the company system, along with a copy of the identification documents provided.

If the individual’s details do not match the identity documents provided, or documents are not provided, the account is blocked, and no depositing or betting can take place.
